On 23 and 24 May 2023, a transnational partner meeting of the SAS project was held in Brussels, Belgium. NASOR experts’ took an active part in discussing the provision of transition to the labour market for disabled people through the Supported Apprenticeship Scheme (SAS), discussed the outcomes of the project and provided feedback. Each country presented details of the challenges in implementing the Western European apprenticeship model at local level – the legislative framework and the need for social sector reforms at EU level. In each of the partners, the apprenticeship scheme was implemented at approximately the same level, with social experts attempting to secure employment for at least 4 disadvantaged individuals. The NASOR team stressed the need for state support and sustainability through permanent national funding to achieve a model of supported employment that is independent of the availability of European projects and programmes.
The partners also had the pleasure of participating in a study tour at Group Intro– a non profit organisation guided by the goals of sustainable social service development, working for the personal growth of the disadvantaged through the provision of employment, training and employment advice. The methodology of action is related to individual care, personalized services (within the workplace, school, family environment and leisure). The specialists explained in detail the organisational structure and strategies to achieve high results in negotiations with employers in the field of inclusive labour market. Thanks to their initiatives, young people with intellectual and physical disabilities are given the opportunity to continue their development in a learning environment without leaving school, developing appropriate qualifications and skills.
