The Government approved the Employment Strategy of the Republic of Bulgaria for the period 2021 – 2030, in which the employment in the country is set to increase to 78.2% of the population between 20 and 64 years, and the unemployment rate does not exceed 4%. The document envisages that in the next decade the working age group 55-64 will reach 70% of the population, and young people under 29 who neither study nor work will decrease to 15% of people of this age.
According to the vision presented in the Strategy for 2030, the labor market must offer quality and sustainable jobs with decent pay, healthy and safe working conditions and career development opportunities. The activities for achieving the goals of the Strategy are divided into 11 groups. These include measures to improve the quality of the workforce according to the requirements of the economy; activation of inactive and unequal groups on the labor market, as well as school dropouts. Activities for increasing the supply of labor through social inclusion are also envisaged; conducting a policy on income, benefits and benefits to stimulate employment and active behavior in the labor market and others, as well as to ensure equality between women and men in the labor market and create conditions for reconciling personal and professional life.
The strategy paper also includes measures to increase labor demand in economically less developed regions and to promote job creation in small and medium-sized enterprises, the social economy and the environmental economy. Activities are also planned to stimulate the implementation of new forms of work, improve the flexibility and security of jobs, as well as to deal with undeclared work and adapt jobs and protect workers in a pandemic.
